About Jute:

The second most important natural fibre in India after Cotton, in terms of usage, production and availability are Jute, which is a long, shiny plant-based fibre that can be spun into coarse as well as strong threads. It is an eco-friendly and biodegradable product. Mainly cultivated in the eastern parts of India and in Bangladesh, Jute is a rain-fed crop cultivated without using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Jute is popular called “Golden Fibre” because of its golden and silky colour. It is also the cheapest fibre procured from the bast of the plant’s stem. Jute has high tensile strength and low extensibility.

It is a sustainable fibre grown in more than 100 countries globally. It is also a heavily traded agricultural product involving more than 150 countries in its export or import business. Cotton fibres can be dyed easily, giving a vibrantly coloured yarn.
